A farming operation that exports, not a trading desk that buys.

Most fodder exporters buy standing crop or finished bales and resell them. We breed the seed, farm the land, time the harvest and bale it ourselves — which is the only reason we can tell you what is actually in a bale.

Where it starts: Highlight Research Farm

Our hybrid corn programme runs from Highlight Research Farm on Bahawalnagar Road in Arifwala. Lines are developed and trialled here — evaluated for yield, dry matter at harvest, starch content and consistency across seasons — before any of them reach a production field.

The farm covers farm size in acres or hectares, and the breeding programme has been running since year the breeding programme started.

Vertical integration, and why it matters to a buyer

Every step from seed selection to wrapped bale happens under our own control. That is not a marketing line — it has a practical consequence. When a trader sells you silage, they are relaying what a grower told them. When we sell you silage, we chose the hybrid, set the planting date, judged the milk line in the field, and ran the baler.

It also means harvest timing is ours to get right. Corn silage cut too early is watery and low in starch; cut too late it is difficult to pack and ferments poorly. Getting that window right is most of the difference between good and mediocre silage, and it is the step a buying agent has no control over.

Our farms

Production runs across our own land in Punjab and Sindh, covering total area under silage corn and producing annual production volume in tonnes per season. Harvest windows differ between the two provinces, which lets us supply across a longer part of the year than a single-region grower.

Who we supply

We have supplied Pakistan's domestic dairy sector since year you started supplying domestically, and currently serve number of regular domestic customers, or a description like "dairy farms across Punjab and Sindh". On the export side we ship to which countries you currently export to.

Who stands behind the crop

Dr Munib Ahmad

Founder & Lead Scientist — Plant Pathology

Dr Munib Ahmad leads the plant pathology and breeding programme behind Forage International. His research background is in rice and maize — the two crops that matter most to what we grow — and it runs from field agronomy through to molecular biology.

That combination is the reason we breed our own hybrid corn rather than buying seed in. Hybrid selection for silage is a different problem from selection for grain: you are optimising whole-plant yield, dry matter at harvest, starch deposition and fibre digestibility at the same time, and you are doing it under Punjab heat. It needs someone who can read a disease pressure trial and a fermentation profile.

He trained in nuclear techniques for agriculture at NIAB — the applied science behind mutation breeding and isotope-based crop research — and his doctoral work was in plant pathology and biotechnology.
